Please welcome Tara, a beautiful 28-year-old Quarter Horse mare who has recently joined the SERRA family. Tara’s owners reached out to us when they were no longer able to provide the care she needed, and we were happy to give this sweet senior mare a safe place to call home. Tara is an exceptionally mellow and gentle horse, and she has settled into her new surroundings beautifully. She is already enjoying her new surroundings and making friends with the other horses—she gets along wonderfully with everyone!

Tara arrived very underweight, so our first priority is helping her safely regain the weight and strength she needs. We are taking things slowly and carefully, giving her plenty of good nutrition, time, and lots of TLC. She seems to be quite happy with the SERRA program and is already showing us what a sweet soul she is.

We don’t yet know whether Tara will be rideable again. She needs to put on some weight and regain her condition before we even consider saddling her. We are told that Tara was ridden in her younger years and was a wonderful trail horse, so we’ll see what the future holds for this lovely girl.

For now, Tara’s job is simply to eat, relax, make friends, and enjoy being cared for. We are so happy she is here, and we look forward to watching her blossom as she begins this next chapter of her life.
