Sweet and stunning Tina (Clandestina, Polo Argentino) is a retired polo pony.
Tina is a 13-year-old, 15.1hh grey mare with striking beauty and a gentle presence. Once a hardworking polo pony, she came to us after an injury left her unable to continue in that sport. With rest, care, and time, Tina has made a full recovery and is now sound, healthy, and ready for her next chapter.
Tina is sweet, playful, affectionate, intelligent mare who knows her own mind.
This 13-year-old, 15.1hh grey retired polo pony genuinely enjoys people. She will come over to greet you in the pasture, loves scratches and grooming, and thrives when regular human connection is part of her life.
She communicates very clearly with her body and does best with someone who understands how to listen. She responds beautifully to handling that is gentle, fair, firm and kind. Push her too hard or handle her roughly, and Tina is likely to stand her ground.
When she’s learning something new, she needs a little time to think. She’s willing and curious, but she’s not a horse who benefits from being rushed or forced through something she doesn’t yet understand. We think these qualities could make her fascinating for Liberty work.
Tina is easy to halter and lead, loads into a trailer and handles fly spray, fly masks and routine veterinary care well. She is good for the farrier, although she can become impatient if there is too much prolonged fussing with her feet. She may pull a foot away, but she willingly gives it back gently.
She also gets along and plays well with other horses. There is one important management consideration: Tina needs plenty of personal space around food and should be fed well away from other horses when feeding in a herd environment.
And then there’s Tina’s less complicated passion: WATER!
She absolutely loves it. Water troughs are for playing. Baths are wonderful. Getting wet is one of her life’s great pleasures.
Tina isn’t necessarily a horse for everyone. Her ideal person will be experienced, observant and interested in developing a genuine partnership with a smart, communicative horse. She thrives on consistency, connection and a predictable rhythm to her life. Give Tina those things and the space to be herself, and there is a lot of horse here to love.
Tina is currently being fostered in Lake County and is looking for the right forever home.
We begin the process by having you fill out an Application for Adoption.
Once we receive your application we will go through a review process.
After reviewing, if certain criteria’s are met, we will approve the adoption.
