Meet Diego

Diego is a beautiful 15-18 year-old Appendix standing approximately 16hh. He is an exceptionally gentle horse with wonderful ground manners and a kind, willing personality.

One of Diego’s special talents appears to be liberty work. He truly enjoys it, and our liberty trainer absolutely loves working with him. Diego is attentive, engaged, and seems to have a natural affinity for this type of partnership. If you are looking for a horse to explore and develop a connection through liberty, Diego could be an amazing partner.

Diego also appears to have had training in the past. He lunges beautifully and seems to understand what is being asked of him. We have introduced him to a bareback saddle, which he accepted comfortably. At this point, however, Diego has not welcomed a rider on his back. Because we wanted to rule out any pain issues, we had his back X-rayed and nothing was apparent. It is possible that Diego may have had an unpleasant experience with riding sometime in his past, although we do not know his history.

For now, we believe Diego will thrive with someone patient and experienced who is willing to continue building his trust and confidence—or with someone interested in developing his considerable potential as a liberty partner. Diego is a gentle, beautiful horse with so much to offer, and we are excited to find the right person who will appreciate him for who he is and help him continue to flourish.
